The world population has grown sharply over the past decades. In a medium-term projection it made, the UNO anticipates world population growing to more than eight billion by the year 2025.
Apart from the good care provided to the population of the industrialized nations of the world, improved medical services are also responsible for the increase in life expectancy. The pharmaceuticals industry can claim to have made a key contribution to this success through its activities in the research and development sector.
“The most-commonly produced forms of medicine are tablets and capsules. Together, they account for approx. 80 % of the medicines used.” (Wikipedia 2014)
Tablets are simple to administer and dose, they are safe and can be produced in high numbers as well as being easy to package.
They will therefore remain the preferred form of medicine in the future too.
In 2006 Dipl.-Ing. Chem. Ingo Krause and Dr. rer. pol. Thomas Krause founded kg-pharma GmbH & Co. KG specializing in R&D tablet presses, in which they supported companies in the pre-production phase and in the small-batch production of tablets. Nowadays far more than 60 tablet presses are installed at global pharma multis worldwide. The latter will become even more important in the future, since personalized, individually produced medication is on the increase.
